How Fast is Time

I'm an expert at teaching my children to plan ahead. It's one of my toughest jobs as a mom. I help them focus on the task at hand. I try to teach them that if the book bags aren't ready and lunches aren't packed, the morning will be rushed and we'll miss the bus! I urge them to clean up their toys now so Pokemon cards or game pieces aren't lost. Slow down, think it through, and make a plan, I caution them.

My children are experts at teaching me to enjoy the moment. It's one of their toughest jobs as kids. They try to remind me to ignore the laundry or dishes or other chores that are waiting. They promise that we'll all do the laundry later so we can play hide-n-seek now. They tell me to come outside for a walk now before it gets dark. Draw this beautiful picture with me, one will say. Tell me my favorite story again, another will beg, snuggling up under my arm.

I remind them to hurry up and get things done on time. They remind me to slow down and take my time. What would we do without each other?
