Pittsburgh Public Market Re-Opening
I'm so excited to visit the Pittsburgh Public Market Friday night. They have a new location and I had the opportunity to become a Friend of the market. I long to be a crafter and a maker, someone who carefully assembles or creates an original product that solves a problem or meets a need, a thing that people pick up and cradle in their hands or raise to the sky exclaiming, "It's perfect!"
Until then, I will wander through the market doing that with things other people have made.
On Saturday, Feb 8, 2014, I am lucky enough to have a workshop space at the Pittsburgh Public Market from 11-12pm. I'll be hosting a Kids' Tasting Party (with one, two or three of my kids) and my middle son will be teaching people how to make Worry Dolls.
My middle son has decided to donate part of his proceeds from the very small fee he charges to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. When he learned that a $1.00 donation can provide five meals for a child, he ran upstairs to his piggy bank and gave me four quarters. And I was one proud mom.
(Does that photo make you hungry? Make sure you stop by my blog the week of Feb 3, 2014 when I announce a new contest with great prizes from Giant Eagle Market District!)
