There's a lot going wrong in the world. But this isn't new, the world has always been a place filled with sadness and wrong. I feel in a way I'm making these goals for good things to counteract the moments where I will feel defeated and awful. I will look for moments of joy to carry me through.
Writing
- Have a new novel to pitch at conferences.
- Attend a new conference or writing event.
- Revise the iPod story.
- Finish Stalkers.
- Submit monthly to agents.
- Submit monthly for work for hire.
I think last year's goals were things I wanted to achieve, but they were things I couldn't get done on my own. These goals I can do and hopefully when I do them, they will help me achieve things like additional publications and securing an agent or editor.
Business
- Continue editing manuscripts
- Secure ghost writing contracts.
I do need to maintain a business income to pay for conference fees.
Reading
- Continue reading all the Newbery award books.
The goal of reading the Newbery books is to really see what captures readers' interests.
Fitness
- Run CUCB.
- Run Pgh Marathon Relay.
- Try some new races.
Keeping it simple this year and letting my fitness goals develop as the year progresses.
Community Service
- Continue to work for Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense.
- Do a gleaning activity for GPCFB.
- Support efforts to increase equality in my community.
These are the same goals from last year, but they are important to me. I really want to do some gleaning this year.
I also want to work on approaching the world with compassion, and to learn about ways in which I unconsciously and consciously allow inequalities to exist in my community.
In addition to these goals, I also want to start waking up earlier in preparation for my oldest switching to the middle school schedule. Because even as I look at the big picture, there are small daily things on my mind.
